Base and Enhanced NLPNP Immigration Categories

The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) is designed to attract skilled workers, international graduates, and entrepreneurs who wish to settle in the province. The program operates under two main categories:

 

1. Base Category – Operates outside the federal Express Entry system and provides a direct route to permanent residency.

2. Enhanced Category – Aligned with the Express Entry system, offering faster processing times for eligible candidates.

NLPNP Eligibility Requirements Program

To qualify under NLPNP, applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements based on the stream they apply for:

1.) Express Entry Skilled Worker

 

  • Must have an active Express Entry profile.
  • A valid job offer from a Newfoundland and Labrador employer.
  • A minimum CRS score as determined by the province.
  • Meet language proficiency requirements (CLB 5 or higher).
  • Possess the required work experience in an in-demand occupation.

2.)  Skilled Worker Category

 

  • Must have a full-time, permanent job offer from an employer in Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • At least one year of relevant work experience.
  • Meet the language requirement (CLB 4 or higher).
  • Demonstrate the intent to reside permanently in the province.

3. International Graduate Category

 

  • Must have graduated from a recognized Canadian institution.
  • Have a valid Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP).
  • A full-time job offer from an employer in Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • Work experience in a related field is preferred but not always required.

4. International Entrepreneur Category

 

  • Must have business ownership or management experience.
  • Be willing to invest at least $200,000 CAD in a Newfoundland and Labrador business.
  • Demonstrate a net worth of at least $600,000 CAD.
  • Intend to reside and actively manage the business in Newfoundland and Labrador.

5. International Graduate Entrepreneur Category

 

  • Must have graduated from a Newfoundland and Labrador post-secondary institution.
  • Have at least one year of business ownership in the province.
  • Hold a valid Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP).
  • Meet language proficiency (CLB 7 or higher).

New Immigration Category under NLPNP

The Priority Skills Newfoundland and Labrador Category is a recent addition to the NLPNP designed to attract highly skilled workers in priority sectors.

Eligibility Requirements:

 

  • Must have at least one year of work experience in Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • A minimum of CLB 5 in language proficiency.
  • Be working in an in-demand occupation such as technology, healthcare, or skilled trades.
  • Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) through the province’s online portal.
