Newfoundland and Labrador is Canada’s easternmost province, rich in natural beauty, history, and opportunity. Known for its rugged coastlines, warm communities, and booming resource industries like fisheries and mining, it is becoming a top choice for newcomers looking to settle in Canada.
This province is a blend of modern industry and centuries-old tradition. While fishing remains one of the leading industries, jobs in healthcare, technology, and skilled trades are growing rapidly. With a peaceful lifestyle, affordable housing, and growing economic demand, Newfoundland and Labrador offers immigrants not just jobs but a high quality of life.
To support its labor market needs, the government introduced the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP), which allows the province to nominate individuals for permanent residency based on their skills, job offers, or business plans.

FAQ's
Briefly Asked Question
01. Can I apply for NLPNP without a job offer?
Most streams under the NLPNP require a valid job offer, especially for skilled workers. However, under the Priority Skills stream, highly skilled individuals in in-demand sectors may be eligible even without a job offer if they show strong qualifications and experience.
02. How long does it take to get PR through NLPNP?
Once you receive a provincial nomination, applying for permanent residency through IRCC can take around 6 to 8 months. Express Entry-linked applications may be faster. The key is submitting a complete and accurate application with all required documents.
03. Can international students apply for NLPNP?
Yes! If you've completed a post-secondary program in Newfoundland and Labrador and have a valid job offer, you may qualify under the International Graduate or Graduate Entrepreneur streams. It’s a great option to transition from a study permit to permanent residency.
04. What kind of jobs are in high demand in the NLPNP?
Newfoundland and Labrador currently need professionals in healthcare, information technology, aquaculture, construction, and fisheries. Skilled trades like electricians, welders, and heavy-duty mechanics are also in demand, along with food service and truck driving jobs.
